Sometimes when faced with tricky problems, my students panic. I probably was not meant to hear the comment featured in this cartoon but it was funny at the time.

Font Wars

Sometimes my students like to take risks and live dangerously^*. This was one of those times...

^*Both Comic Sans and Papyrus are loathed by designers as they have been overused (and misused). These fonts are banned in my classroom.

Buying the Vote

The dialogue in this one is not exactly original. It is a sentiment oft expressed by my father at this time in the electoral cycle.

Elections are coming. It is a great pity that even though we might wish to ignore our politicians, they won't take the hint and simply go away.

No Surprises

Getting students to talk to their parents is always a bit of a mission. Emailing parents works but I'm pretty sure parents would rather hear news from their child before my email arrives in their in-box...

It's All in the Name

My subject association is currently discussing a name change (which is a good thing). Even better, it inspired today's cartoon. I'm glad that I don't need to make the final decision on this one as the fear is that whatever one does, there will always be people who complain...
